I don't know if you are referring to the extremist Muslims, but they are taught to hate the infidel from the day they are born. Showing kindness and respect will not matter to them. We must be destroyed simply because we do not worship Allah. Kindness is a foreign concept to them. If we ignore them, they will not go away. Their beliefs simply will not allow it. Their reward is in heaven and they consider it an honor if they can blow up themselves and as many infidels as possible.
