It would appear that using images or people as intercessors with God is contrary to what the scriptures say .
Apostle Peter did not allow Cornelius to bow down or prostrate himself before him

Jesus himself said that He himself was "the way..and that no one can come to the Father except through Me"
John14:6, 14
1Tim.2:5 points out that there is only one mediator between God and man ...Christ Jesus
Likewise images or idols are not acceptable in worship of God.
John 4:23,24 ..God must be worshipped "in spirit and truth. This implies that those who use images as aids in worshipping God are not worshipping "in spirit" but rather depending on what they can see with their physical eyes.
