All it takes to launch an ethics probe is the price of a postage stamp for someone to mail a letter to the ethics commission.
Once it's launched, the burden of proof (or non-proof) falls on the accused. They're the ones that need to retain counsel to defend ridiculous claims of a disgruntled constituent.
As much of a financial burden all of this may have been for her...let THAT be the only reason to step down.
But, if she's going to use the "they made fun of my family" excuse, maybe it's a good thing she didn't get VP.
Look at all the ribbing Cheney has gotten for 8 years, between his daughter being gay, his Haliburton connections, where he disappeared to after 9/11, and hell!!! he SHOT a guy while hunting for Pete's sake!! LMAO
