Goodbye to a Child

Dear one come close to me
My sight is dim, it's hard to see.
Don't cry for me my dear,
For the highest choir I hear.
Wipe your eyes and make them dry,
For it's time for the last goodbye.
I know it's hard to understand,
But I am heading for my promised land.
Time will heal your broken heart,
For in time we all must part.
You see my race of life I've ran,
Like time in a glass is just sand.
Stay strong and form a solid stand,
As I go please softly hold my hand.
The time is near, life grows dim,
Soon my spirit will be with Him.
You see my child, all things must end,
Like the bowing limbs in the wind.
To you I leave the leader of the pack,
It takes strong shoulders and a mighty back.
You must run the race of life alone,
I will bless thee from a higher throne.
My sight is gone, my life grows dark,
I'll be with you in the song of the lark.
My child as my spirit passes beyond this part,
Keep my love, held deeply in your heart.
