The laws say that animals as pets are property...
IF we open season on cats, too many will go overboard and kill any cat they DEEM AS unfit to live.

Now, I assure you all, I am a wife of an avid hunter. He will bring home all sorts of 'animals' UGH.
Many he gives to his parents cos I just wont eat them.

I am pro control of wild animals...like skunk. I have a 'skunk' I named who comes here for the feral cats 'scraps' but it does no harm...but I wouldnt cry if it got shot.

Cats are easily domesticated, and could be turned into 'no kill' shelters...who should and many do around here...nueter or spay them.

AS for bacteria on tongues, and litter boxes...it can be contained by diet, and cleanliness.

Also, cats have been domesticated creatures since egyptian times..

Personally cats do have a 'reason' for their lives. IF we 'control' the population by death vs 'spaying' we might also go after wild dogs, and a variety of domesticated species...because we can. {AND do we know if they are pets or not?}

Nah...with all the other options, I dont really see the need to kill an animal who helps humans.

Take the population down, and the mice that carry terrible diseases could become over run in the human world.

In some parts..Arizona in fact, the urine of a mouse can be fatal.
Just smelling the urine will cause death within hours or so.
Saw that on the Animal Planet channel. Now I am frightened of mice.

Never thot something so small could kill.

Again, find alternate measures...lest you accidental kill someone's pet.
Pets should be 'collared' with info..but will we be able to see the collar?

Also.... cats have a natural tendency to find prey... and wander. It is good for them to search for like species to procreate sometimes...lest we lose the species altogether.

Cure the cause, not kill it.
