House Hunting

It should not be too hard since they don't move that fast!
We are currently crammed into a 3 bed semi on the edge of town. It's not a bad little house with good room sizes and a decent garden along with the possibility of extending over the garage to give us a 4th bedroom. Currently Suzikat and I are considering moving to a 4 bed house and I took myself off to the bank to see how much they would lend me.
Well despite rumours of a credit crunch and no mortgages, the bank was more than willing to lend me an obscene amount of money far more than I thought they would or thought it would be wise to borrow. What to do? If I do not borrow the maximum amount I am risking losing considerably when the market turns up. If I do borrow the maximum amount, I risk getting too deeply into debt to survive. With 3 young children which would be the wise thing to do?
Anyhow, we have now looked at 2 properties, one a 4 bed bungalow the other a 5 bed house. It is quite strange although the smaller house was much cheaper it felt more of a home. The larger one had a magnificent lounge and lots of rooms but felt like a house for someone to show off how much money they had. It was not lived in by a family but rented out to a single man who is working up here. Maybe it was this that affected my judgement but I simply could not see myself living there. Apart from anything else, if we bought the house, we could nopt afford to furnish it!
