1 Peter 4:10 - “God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another” NLT
The dictionary defines a feast as, “any rich or abundant meal.” It could be a wedding or holiday celebration, birthday party or anniversary. So a man was having a dream. In his dream he was having a conversation with the Lord. He asked the Lord, “Will you tell me what Heaven and Hell are like?" The Lord led the man to a red door and a blue door. He opened the red door and the man looked in. He saw in the middle of the room a large round banquet table eloquently set for a feast. In the middle of the table was a large ornate bowl of stew which smelled delicious and made the man's mouth water. The people sitting around the table were gaunt, thin and sickly - appearing to be famished. They snapped at one another, were grumpy and scowled at every chance. They were each holding a spoon with a very long handle. Each person found it possible to reach into the large ornate bowl of stew and take a spoonful, but because the handle was longer than their arm, they could not get the spoon back into their mouth. The man shuddered in fear at the sight of their frustration, misery, and suffering and their over all plight. The Lord said, "As requested you have now seen Hell." They went to the next room and opened the blue door. It was exactly the same as the first one. There was a large round banquet table eloquently set for a feast. In the middle of the table was a large ornate bowl of stew which smelled delicious and made the man's mouth again water. The people here were equipped with the same long-handled spoons, but here the people were well nourished, enjoying the feast - laughing and talking. The man said to the Lord, "I don't understand." "It’s simple" said the Lord, "it requires but one skill. You see, they have learned to feed one other." |
