The problem with that is that the ban is already being threatened by Flynn, when he gets questioned about why he wants to continue to berate another poster and keeps demanding an apology.. to just question him, apparently is taking things personally and showing negativity..disagreeing is negativity on our part.. pointing out that if you demand one thing of another poster, you should be willing to give out what you demand of others..

The whole ban thing is supposed to keep a thread on track.. if the posts of the thread starter, make the thread go off track and you simply follow that track farther than they would like.. then you shouldn't bitch about it, when you made that trail to begin with.

When I see comments like "smarter minds than you decided".. I see that as personal.. not why are you asking her to do what you were not willing to do? but apparently taking a dig at a N00b was OK but me questioning him on berating another, is not OK..

I am with BH on this.. if you can't scroll past or want to throw stones, but bitch when you get hit back, then it is time for you to change, not the entire site, just to accommodate you or a few..

I think this is just another way for a chosen few to be able to control others and their views. AR said it herself, *the only trouble i can really see with this is that the mod and thread starter will clash if the one wants the tban in place but he mod doesnt think so ...thats the trouble with going through a 3rd party.. if we could control it ourselves it makes us behave a little better. 01-19-2008 03:47 PM * her statement here proves to me what she and others have in mind, do you really think this will be a positive thing? I think it's a disaster waiting to happen myself, for members and mods both, why not just leave well enough alone? We've all been there when it comes to acting up, whether it be in the debate section or anywhere else, and I believe it's been dealt with appropriately. IMO

Nice to meet you..

Disapproval of the group should have nothing to do with the hindrance of free speech.. and while I do understand that free speech on forums should not be used to JUST be an ass hole and that the judgment call is for the mods to make.. banning someone from your threads because they find a lot of fault in your logic, double standards and posting style is simply being a cry baby..and you can't tell me that posts will not get deleted just to pacify a few who just like to bitch..

Many here make insults towards others, bait others and use "You shouldn't take it personally" when you call them on it.. and the fact is, just because sometimes we post to things that were meant to be personal, doesn't mean we took it personally..but either way, if you opened the door, we should be allowed to respond without the OP whining about it...

what exactly do i have in mind?

everyone seems to think flynn and myself would abuse the feature to obvlivion, yet we are the ones who have the thickest skin on here!
The t ban isnt there to stop people having a good healthy debate, its there to help us moderate ourselves a little better...
take a look at last week for example, the petty name calling and swearing was totally out of control!
sadie if you really really have any doubts PM me and I'll show you a link to another forum where this function was put to great use.

and you're all forgetting one major thing.. ALL T BAN REQUESTS MUST BE MADE THROUGH A MOD WITH THEIR APPROVAL!

so we cant just tban someone because we feel like it

But that's not the way you want it...you said so yourself. You want full control of your own threads. Am I wrong? I've pmed you and I'll gladly look at what it is you're talking about AR...but I really can't see anything being accomplished but total chaos.

BH thats just you tho.. i'm very thick skinned and ive often told people here not to take things so personal and to grow thicker skin.. but not everyone is like that.. its unfair to ask others to ignore the nonsense or not to participate in it because some folks just cant help themselves.. its better to have a tool there that will put a stop to it before it gets to the stage that it did last week..

The best tools I know of is one's brain and common sense. If someone lacks the ability to put those two together, banning them will not matter. They will simply register under another name. I welcome what someone has to say regardless of how immature or insensitive it may sound. That's what helps us grow as individuals, seeing the world from another prospective. We all can't have the world our way, so let's help make it together. If someone needs to crack a whip over me, it had better be a long whip. I am thick skinned and as I've said before, I don't wear my feelings on my sleeve or carry a chip on my shoulder. If someone feels a need to be an authority figure over others in their life they should apply for a job as a prison guard. They hire them every day.

No, you don't.. just because you two get upset, doesn't mean others are..and look at why he alluded to having me banned from The Only in America thread for your whole theory on how honorably he would try to use the system..

Countering what is posted, is not making it personal..

Posting different opinions, is not "making trouble"..

Questioning a double standard that IS posted by the OP is not moving from the debate..or bashing..

and you, yourself, posted, in this very thread that the posters and the mods would clash over what should be removed and asked for the power to do it yourself..

BH i repeat not everyone has the thick skin we have.. and we, myself included can often overstep the mark without knowing it, sometimes we need stopping in our tracks before we can stop...
and autho figure over a life? no a simple thread on a website.. is it too much trouble to ask for a simple debate without it going tits up?

umm PSS to put this bluntly..you have problems with flynn.... thats got nothing to do with the thread nor debate...
I did say that mods and members will clash over this feature, but things will soon settle and you'll wonder what all the fuss was about...

I dont. because I know I can conduct myself in a polite yet annoyed manner
