I could never dream of hitting my kids. I was beaten and abused a child, but I turned out okay (some may disagree there). I dont hit my kids and they are making me proud!

I have to agree with you there. I raised my little brother the same way I raised my kids. Its a mixed bag. My brother is doing fantastic! My oldest got mixed up with drugs but has pulled his head out of his ass. Hes clean now and working hard to make his life right. My second oldest is doing great too. Hes studying to be a youth minister. My third is my trial by fire. She is just plain mean and wild. My fourth was hit with diabetes and seems to be goal oriented.
I have done everything in my power to be the exact opposite of my parents. So far so good. Will I change my ways if I end up with my daughters brat? no!
