Personally, I'd go back part time and work my way back up. It's a question of what's best for you and your family. I could not sit at home and do nothing. I feel like I need to work. Your experience may be different. Back injuries seem to get better with some activity (sometimes) so maybe it's best for your back as well.
It's always easier to get a job from a job so even if you end up working elsewhere there is a good reason to go back now.

I've had a few different jobs in my working life, if I have to work full time I'd prefer to stick at what I've got now.

Most of the time I enjoy my work.

It's still just a job though, sometimes I'd prefer to have more time to myself, in two years time when my current contracts run out I'll give it serious consideration.

My wife works full time too, we have no children at home now so we are DINKS ( double income no kids ).

In two years time it will be interesting to see if she is working for me part time or I'm working back in the office working for her part time. One of us will give up full time work in a couple of years, we have options and we have discussed them.

Flynn im kinda like you.. I enjoy doing what i am doing.. it gives me great satisfaction..
god knows what will happen.. things are changing quickly at work and they arent changing for the better

There are a lot of other things I would prefer to do than WORK, I've got so many unfinished projects, I'd love to just work on this place for a couple of years, I guarantee I wouldn't be bored.

I do enjoy my work and if the contracts I have are any indication the people I work for think I do a good job for them or they wouldn't keep offering more work.

There's the problem.

Five years ago I was working by myself, I got too much work to do so I hired an employee. Then we had to hire casual labourers which meant buying more equipement and most of all transport for the workers. I have expanded my little business to find that increasing the quantity does not always increase the bottom line.

Now with increased fuel prices, which do not look like dropping, we've decided to take every opportunity to downsize.

After I complete my next job I have contracted work for two people for the next two years then I'll look at how the economy is going and make a decision then as to what I'm going to do.

Keep active and do the exercises or I guarantee your back will be the worse for it.

guess at the end of the day we have to find what we are comfortable with and live with it..

I have no idea what the future brings.. i have a huge meeting tomorrow which im not looking forward to.. so fingers crossed
