No, but I found that article after reading a larger one of the same topic in People the other day. The headliner of the article was how her mother was pawning off personal items to pay bills. Either way, I suppose we can agree to disagree on this one. What say you?

Frankly,I think the only winners here look like the lawyers. As for Britney Spears,if she loses everything because she can't handle things, that's her fault, isn't it? Lots of other famous ( or infamous ) people have lost millions because they were messed up . Mike Tyson, Gary Coleman and other child stars are some examples and nobody stepped in and protected them from themselves. If she has that kind of money, hire the lawyers and don't waste court time on it. The taxpayers pay for the court proceedings and I don't think they have any business being involved.

They had the right on her behalf as well as her childrens while she keeps going thru what is obviously mental break downs. This way no one not even her family members can abuse her monies. Its a smart move in a sticky siuation. The courts really do want us all to succeed in life and that means keeping us out of the poor house if possible.

Definitely agree on that one. She's not the first to break down, but she's one of, if not the, first to be intervened upon. The lawyers are making serious money off of this money so I doubt they'll be rushing to complete their assignments, and while I'm not sure if the taxpayers are the ones paying the court fees, that doesn't mean that it gives the court reason to step in.

We definitely disagree there. Whether or not they had reason or authority to do this aside, you will never convince me that the courts have everyones best interests in life and want us all to succeed.

Federlane, after all his fancy bills, pulled in a whopping $7,000 (appx.) in 2007. And the courts recently gave him full custody of the children. He should do his part, but all he'll end up doing is a half-ass job of raising his kids and racking up on the child-support money.

This young woman was running her life completely off track, I haven't done much research into her recent behaviour but it seems to me that she is trying to get her life back on track, recent appearances on sit coms are testamount to her professionalism when she is with the right people
As for this allowance she is supposed to be on, well all I have to say about that is, quote BBC 1st of July 08
Spears wants child-friendly home
Spears bought her current home last year for $7m (£3.5m)
Britney Spears is looking for a new home with extra outdoor space for her children to play in and more privacy, court records have revealed.
Documents show the 26-year-old wants a property closer to parks for Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, one.
The star has stipulated she wants a "less trafficked" home than her current Beverly Hills house, which is constantly stalked by paparazzi.
The sale of Spears' house was requested by her father, who runs her affairs.
The court has agreed to his request, which was made in mid-June, court papers reveal.
James Spears is acting as his daughter's conservator following several incidents of erratic behaviour by the Baby One More Time singer.
The children's father and Spear's former husband Kevin Federline, has full custody of the children.
You don't go looking for properties with Million dollar price tags if you only have acces to $1500.00 per week.

I dont believe everything I read..
I do however think that the 1500 is a PERSONAL allowance.. not a house running bill paying allowance.. as none of us were in court none of us can say what clauses were put into this ruling.
But buying a more secure less hassled home for her children may very well be allowed and could be a sign she is looking to quiten down her hectic life and perhaps start growing up...
who knows

Look at Barbara Hutton, the Woolworth heiress who inherited $50 million dollars. At that time she was the richest woman in the world. She was mentally unstable and due to her extreme generosity and alleged questionable business deals by her long-time lawyer, Graham Mattison, she died at age 66, with less than $4000.00 in her account.

I understand your point of view Mitch ~ but sadly, sometimes a person needs protecting from themselves, and the only fair way of doing this, and to ensure a legal system is set up, is by going to the courts.
The question has to asked "Who instigated the proceedings in the first place, and why". I think we can guess at "Why" [her behaviour over the last year would worry any family, let alone that it was in the public arena], as to who began it all really isn't important so long as the troubled girl gets the help and protection she obviously needs ~ so $1500 personal allowance a week seems a logical move as her estate will look after all the other outgoings [I assume]
As has already been said, we were not in court and can only go by what we read and see on the news ~ but if she was my daugther and had acted in the way that she has, I would have to think seriously about her well being, and as her father is in control, he will have to follow the instructions of the court ~ hopefully it will all sort itself out given time.

I think the paparazzi is one of the things that's pushing her over the edge. I wish there could be some type of harassment law when it comes to those vultures. I hope she doesn't end up like Princess Di.
