Default It’s illegal for schools to teach religious doctrine as if it were true.

Swedish government - it’s illegal for schools to teach religious doctrine as if it were true.

The Swedish government has announced plans to clamp down hard on religious education. It will soon become illegal even for private faith schools to teach religious doctrines as if they were true. In an interesting twist on the American experience, prayer will remain legal in schools - after all, it has no truth value. But everything that takes place on the curriculum’s time will have to be secular. “Pupils must be protected from every sort of fundamentalism,” said the minister for schools, Jan Björklund.

"Protected from every sort of fundamentalism”????
Is it really that dangerous if it isn't true? That's giving alot of credence to something one doesn't believe in.
And by the "Minister" of schools at that?!
Keeping the government out of religion and vice-versa should be just that. No regulation what-so-ever.
IMO

I will push for posting the First Ten Amendments (to the Constitution) in the churches.

I don't understand how they can control what private schools teach, parents CHOSE those schools because that is what they want their children to be taught

Well, or maybe because they want better quality instruction, or at least a more favourable number of students per teacher than public schools offer...and/or maybe just because they can afford to pay for it, and assume it's a better education....?

The Governement shouldn't go into private schools, parents chose them for specific reasons. If the goverment goes into them, it ruins the reason why the parents put them there in the first place.......

The Schools this is talking about is Private Faith Schools.
It's an Anti Terrrorist stand.
They're talking about the same thing here.
There is little doubt that combating Islamic fundamentalism is the underlying aim, especially in conjunction with another new requirement that all independent schools declare all their funding sources.
Poor Mojo Newswire: Swedish schools ban teaching religious doctrine in schools, prayer okay

The government can bring in any laws they want to.. public or private schools!

They are not banning all religious teachings, they are banning them from being taught as FACT... you can argue til you are blue in the face but there is no hard factual evidence that there is ANY god, no matter what religion you follow.

I think this is a rather good move, altho its obvious it is really targeting muslims, there are many other *mad* religious nuts who could be teaching kids ... ANYTHING
there are many a mad catholic, christian, and baptist fanatics

Schools are that special place where children learn factual information that they will be able to use in their adult lives.

Religion belongs in the fairy tale setion of every school library.

I couldnt agree more.
I think you should let your children make up their own mind about religion.
