Was Jesus Black?
So, some recent examples of racism here towards Blacks got me wondering: Was Jesus Black?
Many agree that he likely was Black...or at the very least, olive-skinned...kinda like the people of Iraq, Iran, and various other countries in the Middle East. This, of course, didn't sit well with Hitler and his nazi goons, who wanted desperately to believe that Jesus was Aryan....yup, blonde-haired, blue-eyed Jesus...and then later, from their teachings, it became widely accepted in North America that Jesus was some white, biker-lookin' dude...which seems kind of odd considering where he would have lived. The bible itself said that Jesus had "skin of bronze" (apparently), and scientifically speaking, due to the amount of sun a carpenter would get in Nazareth, he was bound to have an extremely high melanin (sp?) content in his skin, making him brown-skinned, or even black. So....what say ye...? I'll include a picture to help people picture this...just in case they have trouble picturing a Black man in light of such a revelation...(and don't say I never gave you anything)   no wonder he called us all his bretheren...

no, he was not white, common sense tells us that, considering the area he was born in and I seriously doubt he had blue eyes, although most pics of him depict blue eyes, in all likelihood he was dark skinned, dark eyed, dark haired

The question feared by so many for such obviously unchristian like reasons...the answer is apparent to me but then again I hold no precieved notions of God other than that entity is all knowing and all seeing...that doesn't mean I can even try to fathom the big picture no matter how many religious books I read or how many faith based belief structures I explore....
I believe God spoke to all nations in their own 'tongue' with a 'christ' recognizable for each culture, but perhaps I am an idealist or perhaps I have see the glory with open heart. don't know, but I have my faith and my research to help me understand what so many take for granted! The reoccurring theme of the Christian religion is the absence of tangible proof. The most important man in history Jesus Christ and no one thought to give a physical description of him. Maybe it had some thing to do with Jesus saying don’t pray unto Graven Images. His disciples may have thought his actions painted his picture so there was no need to give a description. Then again it may have been a good advertising gimmick at the time, if you don’t say what colour Jesus is then no one feels excluded by their on skin colour. Well, like I said, most things in the Christian religion rely on faith not proof. His skin can be different colours to different people and interpretations will be based on the colour of an individuals own skin pigment. |

I understand your stmt but I am not black and my stmt holds true to me...I say he was reprented to all cultures in their likeness. Perhaps you missed that part of my post!
I am not religious in the slightest but I do have faith...it is not definable by the norms of any culture, but an algimation of all things said and done accordin to scientific history and culturally diverse beliefs with so many common denominators. |
