I mean, really now...some American people here are so determined to see Obama fail...or worse...and yet these people have the nerve to call themselves "patriots"...

Oddly, Bush was given more than enough chances to show how much he hates the American people (well, the middle class at least) before anyone said boo about it...but Obama hasn't even taken office yet, and these people are flappin' about how he's got "terrorist" connections, and he's the cause of practically everything from the current economic disaster, to the bubonic plague centuries ago...

Then again, it's like DLST pointed out...those people are the minority (hopefully), and they do not represent America as a whole...

I would think the rest of the nation (as well as the rest of the world, minus a select few) wants to see Obama succeed, and America restored to its former glory, and beyond...I know I would.

LMAO...gotta love the Spankmister hehehe! NO, you will not break my heart teehee!

The moral majority is just that! No, silly people not moral, just the majority; that tell others how to live. How to breathe, aha, how to breathe as they believe polluting the earth is God's will and our destiny. Now, how do you have an intelligent conversation with a mind set like that? Seems they forget biblical reference to being stewards of all things of God and just go straight to Revelations.

Talk about defeatist and lazy,

I want to see America succeed, not necessarily Obama. You have no clue of his intentions yet, and neither do I. So that will be left to be determined.

And don't be foolish, the rest of the world does not want to see America succeed. They love to see Obama because it tears us farther and farther away from what America used to be, what it was built on. Restored to its former glory? What are you smoking? We will give more and more control to our government during this next term. And while I chose to pay attention in school, to better my income to support my family, more of my "earnings" will be taken from me and my family and distributed to those that damn sure didn't "earn" it. They're going to get my money for spreading their legs and not taking responsiblity for their actions. They won't wake up and go find a job to support themselves when our government forces me and many others to support them anyway. We give them more and more, and require less and less to get it. And it's an epidemic because there are no repurcussions for this laziness and lack of responsibility. More and more people are taking the easy way out. And you honestly think they'd vote to change this? Hell no! They'd have to get jobs then. America is too fargone to ever be restored to its former glory. That's the unfortunate truth.

How sad to think that of your own country. A country is it's people and there is nothing that they cannot achieve.
Speaking as a non-american I would like to see the US succeed. I doubt that Obama will manage to fullfill all the expectations that have been heaped upon him not because he is not capable or the people of the US are not able but because so much is being heaped onto him he is almost being set-up to fail.

But all we can ever do is try.

It amazes me how much people here in America complain about our taxes when we are all so much better off in that regard than most of the "western industrial powers". Of course, nobody wants to pay higher taxes but in reality, we aren't so bad off.
Having said that, I don't like seeing those people who abuse the welfare system either and I realize that full government medical could bankrupt this country. However, the welfare abusers, I believe, are in the minority and most people that use social programs do so because they have little or no choice. The other thing is that welfare programs are a drop in the bucket compared to some of the other cash cows in the government. NASA will spend hundreds to develop a pen that writes upside down instead of using a 50 cent pencil. We've spent trillions on space shuttles and trips into orbit to launch more spy satellites to quench our paranoid thirst while being no closer to true space exploration than we were 30 years ago.
Then we will write a check for $1 billion to a company like AIG so a bunch of millionaires can keep living their high lifestyle. We are on the verge of spending $1 trillion on wall street in the hopes that these corporate criminals will fix the economic mess that they, themselves, created by their greed and selfishness. Our automakers knew in the 70's that business as usual was a mistake and we would have to start looking at alternative fuel sources for our vehicles yet did virtually nothing. They also have known for years that their inventory was out of hand and would eventually catch up to them and now they need taxpayer help to survive while they fly around in $million corporate jets.
OK, I'm ranting a little here and need to get on point. We need to forget all this black/white crap and quit expecting some sort of miracle out of our new president. Hopefully, he can do some good things and maybe get us on a path in the right direction. That would be a good start and I would be quite happy if he is able in a term just to stop the economic downhill slide. I also don't lay all the blame at G.W. Bush's doorstep. We can go all the way back to the Reagan years to see where this started and neither the Republicans or Democrats did anything to stop what was inevitable so it's time to cut the party line BS and let the guy do his job as best he can. And maybe the rest of us need to do more to help in our own communities even in small ways.

ern59 you and I are just about on the same page here. Welfare with or without cheaters is nothing compared to corporate welfare. Even befrore this latest crisis the corporations were ripping the public off through Washington. Just give the new guy a shot. Even if he screws up I believe he will be doing better than the current occupant at his best.
