Well of course there are the Christian Crusades.

Off hand NO, I don't know any Christians who are out there slaughtering the Non Believers as in days gone by.

I'm sure, today, there's more of them lurking in the background, finger on trigger, waiting for God to give them the command to shoot shoot though.

Lurking in the background? lol...ok. I think I'll get myself a cup of tea now...Oh, let me just put this gun down and hope that I don't miss Gods' command while I'm in the kitchen.
C'mon...is that what you really think?

Actually..there have a been cases where people have said "god " told them to kill. Wasn't that what one woman who killed her kids had said?.. I'll have to do a little research on that.
Maybe Pat is referring to someone being forced to get an abortion when they don't want one. The original question is so vague it leaves a lot of room for speculation as to what is meant.
I work with a guy who was a conscientious objector during the Viet Nam war who did serve in the military but never used a gun. He was drafted.
Forcing a child to eat vegatables....now there's something...

God Told Him to Kill Parents

This one ask's a good question at the end.
God Told Me To Kill Gays : Dispatches from the Culture Wars

It can argued that these people are insane, but none-the-less, they claim "God told them to kill"

You're a Canadian who I hope was brought up in an enviroment where owning a gun is not an essential survival tool.

I'm guessing the subject matter of the thread is consciencous objection to the act of killing another human being even though the law and or your country demanded it of you.

Zealot Christians are no different to their Muslim counterparts, if either thought it was a benefit to their community they would obey the order.

*Lurking....what a great word !

God told her to get her house in order so she killed two of her children by bashing their heads in with a rock, the third child survives the rock bashing with brain damage.

Mental institutes are full of people who God speaks to.

Flynn, Im aware of what the articles say ...my point is only that in each case the claim of divine order from God was used.

Which is what each of my reviews says about each web site you gave the links for........." God made them do it. "

I'm having trouble seeing where I went wrong Joe.

First nothing in the question mentions GOD ... so let's leave that alone .... ...

as for the broad question ... it would all depend on what the situation is .... I mean my kids hate being forced to do somethings but then again they being minors have no choice in the matter ....

I am forced to have to pay insurance to drive my vehicle .... I would rather keep that money and if I were in an accident use it myself to fix my vehicle ....

I guess it would have to be a more definitive question to decide on ....
