WASILLA, Alaska — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said Friday she is resigning from office at the end of the month, raising speculation that she would focus on a run for the White House in the 2012 race.
The former Republican vice presidential candidate made the surprise announcement from her home in suburban Wasilla on Friday morning. She said she would step down July 26 but didn’t announce her plans.
“Once I decided not to run for re-election, I also felt that to embrace the conventional Lame Moose status in this particular climate would just be another dose of politics as usual, something I campaigned against and will always oppose,” Palin said in a statement released by her office.
She said that she would be honeymooning with her new husband, Bullwinkle Moose, along the Siberian coast, so she could still see her beloved Alaska."

Obama has barely got the Presidential seat warm and the 2112 election process is already underway.

I would have thought this would be a time of rebuilding where everyone pulls together for the common goood.

It appears it is still about what your country can do for you.

Americans really are slow learners on some issues.

but she has also been plagued by ethics probes, legal bills,
and doubts about her ability to govern.

Palin says she has run up more than half a million dollars in legal fees
stemming from the two dozen ethics complaints against her,
which she calls "political absurdity."

Her supporters set up a fund to help cover the legal costs, but an independent investigator's preliminary report found the fund itself may have constituted a state ethics law violation, according to Alaska news reports.

Her popularity, while unquestioned among a portion of Republican voters, is less assured in the larger electorate, with 53 percent of Americans saying they have an unfavorable view of Palin, in a recent poll.

All it takes to launch an ethics probe is the price of a postage stamp for someone to mail a letter to the ethics commission.
Once it's launched, the burden of proof (or non-proof) falls on the accused. They're the ones that need to retain counsel to defend ridiculous claims of a disgruntled constituent.
As much of a financial burden all of this may have been for her...let THAT be the only reason to step down.
But, if she's going to use the "they made fun of my family" excuse, maybe it's a good thing she didn't get VP.
Look at all the ribbing Cheney has gotten for 8 years, between his daughter being gay, his Haliburton connections, where he disappeared to after 9/11, and hell!!! he SHOT a guy while hunting for Pete's sake!! LMAO
When you make it to VP, you don't get to say "Phuck it, I quit"
