BTW, in the article you posted, he never stressed "especially" in the south.

Hortysir

If you read some of the posts on this thread you would find your question has already been answered.

quote Hortysir

No one has yet answered how "you-lie" yelled across a senate chamber is construed as racist.

President Carter's comments about the American South being places where racism is not only alive but now with a Black President the American South is a festering pit of racial intolerance to all things NOT White and Christian.

Those comments are not based on Obama being called a liar in the Senate.

President Carters comments are in relation to his observations of the American South during his life time.

Wow !

I'll give you that point.

Carter actually talks about observing racism in the South during his life time but now feels that those Southern racist attitudes have spilled across State Borders so now there is an ground swell of racism toward African Americans by most White Americans in all States.

President Carter goes on to say that most White People think that African Americans could never be qualified to be President.

Which is quite ironic coming from one of the worst Presidents in USA history.

American history will always show that a PEANUT farmer became the president of the USA.

See folks, so long as you are born there, anyone can be President.

A peanut farmer did it.

Now an Afro American with ties to the Muslim world has taken the top job. No one is even sure if Obama was born on American territory so they may as well change the law and allow immigrants to get the top job.

I had rather they enforce the laws already on the books and have the presidential candidates, or anyone else running for office, prove their qualifications.

Iceman

How exactly does a candidate prove he is qualified for the position of president of the USA ?

Whose standards should be met ?

If any American citizen meets the basic criteria of the USA electoral commission then they should be eligible to be nominated for the Presidency.

The rest of the world would hope that the law enforcement agencies of the USA would be able to determine whether a candidate has a legitimate claim on the presidency.

At present, it says a lot about America's information gathering ability that citizens are still asking if Obama is an illegal alien.

No, the article you linked us to states:
The former president first weighed in on Tuesday during a question-and-answer session at the Carter Center in Atlanta. Mr. Carter responded to a question about Mr. Wilson’s eruption by saying that he did believe it was laced with racism. Coupling the Wilson remark with the images in recent weeks of angry demonstrators wielding signs depicting Mr. Obama as a Nazi or as Adolf Hitler, Mr. Carter said: “There is an inherent feeling among many in this country that an African-American should not be president.”

Again....how is "you lie" shouted across a crowded room = racist?
Bbell, what is a racist 'tone of voice'?
And how is an Obama/Hitler poster indicative of feelings that a black man shouldn't be president?

A candidate can prove his qualifications by presenting authentic documents and not forged ones..Someone that prevents the officials from obtaining college entry forms that would prove them unqualified to hold the presidential office sure throws up a red flag..

Iceman, it sounds like you're referring to the recently circulated story that Obama registered as a foreign student by the name of Barry Soetoro.
The story, along with it's "AP" tagline is a complete hoax.
