Target stores was recently forced to remove an illegal alien Halloween costume from its website, after complaints from Latino groups for being offensive and just plain dumb.
The costume on Target’s website portrayed a bug-eyed X-Files type space alien mask carrying a green card and wearing a bright orange-red prison jumpsuit with the words “Illegal Alien” emblazoned across the front.
After viewing the offensive costume, several Latino groups issued public condemnation of the costume, complaining it was insensitive to the Latino community.
Executive director of the Coalition for Human Immigrant Rights, Angelica Salas, called the costume “distasteful, mean-spirited, and ignorant…”
Lizette Olmos, national communications director for the League of United Latin American Citizens, referred to the costume as “really disturbing”
Target responded to the public uproar by removing the offensive illegal alien costume from its website. And how did such a bigoted Halloween costume make it into their costume lineup for 2009? A data entry error of course.
Target released a statement saying, that the costume was never intended to be on the company’s website and attributed its appearance to a human error made during data entry.

I think the costume is hilarious, and would love to wear it. (Should be easy enough to do my own)

Dammit it is offensive and dumb. Just look at it. There is no chance of a nice glimpse of tit or a bit of leg to get your teeth into.

Target received millions of complaints for not saying "Merry Christmas", and ignored them.
Why heed these complaints?
I remember, a few years ago, Target was approached to sponsor a "Support our Troops" effort, and they declined..... meanwhile ramping up their support for gay/lesbian causes.
