I'm glad I'm not the only one who said it. What I have been trying to say this whole time, "kill for food or necessity" but then people come in here thinking that we only care about "cute little cats" well it isn't only about killing cats to me, its about animal rights. I'm no vegetarian I eat meat, but I would never even kill a spider unless I had the intention of eating it.
Then we have the the christian people who say "what would Jesus do?" Well I couldn't even imagine Jesus running around with a .22 shooting stray cats, or hunting for sport. Granted they didn't have firearms back in Jesus time, but you get the point.
Whats this about men being the more rational sex? Well no offence to the guys but I see that mostly guys are in favor of this discusting idea. That doesn't seem at all rational to me. To me the whole thing says, "if you have a problem shoot it!"
Come on! There are more "rational" ways of dealing with a problem.

See, you have a good point there. I was here when all the jokes were made about shooting the cats. It was really bothering me too because of the fact that I am an animal lover. Someone has to stick up for them! But some of the people saying these things didn't consider that we might get upset over what was being said. I was tempted to say something myself, but I figured what the hell, they dont really mean it, it was all in joking. I see where Prd got upset about it, because I was feeling the same damn thing. I think PRD's feelings were hurt first after the cruel joke were being made, and her feelings got the best of her so to make her feelings clear Prd makes a joke and people got offended, and all hell breaks loose. The moral of this story is, dont take anyone's words too seriously on a joke site!

Killing for food, sometimes, is not the only neccessity.
Sometimes it is needed to control population, disease, or for just plain ole safety reasons.
I would be in favor of this idea if it involved dogs, or rats, or horses.
Over-population is dangerous to any eco-system.
(BTW, Jesus carried a .45) LOL

Well I am sorry, this whole thing is my fault and I should not have checked my email because I found a lot of PM's and this time they were not all about what a (you fill in the blank) I am.

I thought about just sticking to a couple threads and joking like I was before, but then I saw all that has happened since I checked out and it absoulutely amazed me.

First: The "joke" (lol) was not what upset me. I made a simple request to leave insults to the trolls. If I say women like to buy new shoes all the time because they are all fat and can't see them anymore once they put them on then follow it with an lol it still isn't funny. Whether or not you are overweight it is still an insult and if a joke it is an insulting joke. Yes this is a joke site, I was simply asking to leave the debate to debate. But still that is not what upset me.

Second: I did not call PRD a troll. Reread the post, I said leave the insults to the trolls. In other words... You are not a troll so do not do what trolls do.

Third: I saw posts from other people that were responding to hatefully by PRD and said quite simply that if those kinds of hateful posts were her idea of debate I was glad to see her go. Notice still no insult, no incrimination, only an if then statement. If that is not her idea of debate and she is upset about something that I have no clue about and got caught in because I asked her to drop the insults and got lumped in with people she was mad at then there needs to be some clarification so I know what is going on.

Fourth: I have seen a lot of people saying not to post a private message because it is private and posting it is an invasion of privacy, etc. That is a bunch of bologna. There is nothing private in that message only the same hateful insults she is still hurling and as it is a message to me I have the right to share it anyways. If Tsalagi still has the private messages I sent him he could post and show you that I advised him of PRD's message PER HER REQUEST and when he responded back about "Roasting" her I told him that was not my intent. If anyone has received a hateful, nasty or insulting message from me I challenge you to post it. It was this uncalled for nastiness and the nastiness that followed from those who seem to feel that it is okay to cuss out someone here because they are just a noob and therefore their opinion does not matter. This is what was disheartening. Now before anyone starts talking about me "whining" or "crying" again, I was not and have not been doing either. It is just very disappointing that even in this unreal environment the hateful have so many other hateful people encouraging them to be more hateful. I received many red points from people who would not put their names on them and now as I read through here I see many of the exact same comments from people posting now and actually calling me a troll. That is quite telling I would say. When the hateful reign and are encouraged to be hateful simply because of race, gender, ethnicity, religion, etc. it is a sad day.

I am not even going to address all the insightful things that have been posted about inflatable women, "mommy and daddy", etc. other than to say, thank you for proving my point.

To those of you who sent me PM's that were other than hateful and insulting, Thank you.

To PRD and King Homie, I was not aware that a person was not valid here until they had a certain number of posts. Thank you for making me aware that a new person needs to just let people say whatever they want and act like a college student pledging a fraternity I was under the false impression that all people are entitled to their opinions.

Sometimes it is needed to control population, disease, or for just plain ole safety reasons.
I would be in favor of this idea if it involved dogs, or rats, or horses.

Maybe...BUT I dont know too many wild rat pets.
Horses dont over breed...I live in the country...that has never been a problem.
Dogs are the same...IF responsible owners ensure they wont over produce...then fine.

I had a 'wild' dog...once. NOT really wild, but we fed him, he had a red collar...no one cared to post they were missing him.
Plus side to keeping him..He killed the bigger destructive animals. AND ate them.
Somehow Groundhog doesnt appeal to me. ACK!

BUT as I said b4. Cats kill the mice that are indeed over populated..and are diseased.

MICE populate far faster than cats..and the cycle continues.

I personally believe that feral cats should be trapped to save native fauna. Here in Australia anyone can (humanely) trap a cat and take it to the council pound where they're (humanely) euthinazed because they'll never be domesticated.
1. There are far too many.
2. Their imprinting is too deep set.
Some, that are in more suburban areas can be domesticated, because they are conditioned to people, I've done it myself.
The councils have to go into our national parks and trap feral cats that kill native animals like possums, baby koalas, frogs etc and of course ALL bird species.
I also own cats and have them both microchipped, though they're clearly domestic. If they're taken to the pound I'll get them back, though they usually stay indoors.



Actually... we cull the Brumby population back here too: horses can overbreed.

Nope, but it takes 340 days to drop a foal. Not a whole lot of overpopulation at that rate!

Dogs have a litter in 60-65 days.
Cats are about the same. Five litters a year possible with 4-8 per litter. Thats upping the population curve pretty fast, and the young can get pregnant in 18 months to two years. So 4 (half the litter) X 5 = 20 kittens the first year. 10+4 X5 =70 the second year. 35+10+4 X 5 = 245 the next year.
And so the feral cat population grows at a geometric progression.

BUT as I said b4. Cats kill the mice that are indeed over populated..and are diseased.

MICE populate far faster than cats..and the cycle continues.

And so the feral cats continue to increase in population, because they have few predator problems.

Oh, and it tales an elephant 660 days to gestate! That's why we have so few of them around Grandpa's dumpster!
