One is now titled member bashing, the other about the thread ban option. Both very relevant and worth keeping as stickies. |

Essex " Thread ban ", title of the the thread second from top, you can't miss it, every day it's there and no one can post on it. It's a locked thread ! What purpose does it serve anyone ? |

Essex We haven't had a new member post on the the Debate section for a long time. As for letting new members observe the interaction on the opening two threads as an example of good behaviour I tend to disagree with you there. I've always found that most normal, rational, human beings don't need to know about thread bans or personal membership punishment. Thread bans and being banned from participating are rules for people who have been here long enough to know better any way. Moderators never offer a reason for deleting posts so new comers will just have to get used to the idea that Moderators will delete their posts and will not give an explanation as to WHY. If we get a new member who wants to spend their internet time debating social issues and they open either of the first two threads, I doubt that they would read any more than page ONE anyway. So,...... is there any point in leaving the arellavent information here ? If a new memeber did open either of these existing two threads that are proudly displayed top of page and they read them in their entirety and then they decided to stay and post here................. I would question their ability to make rational decisions. |

sorry to bother, but it appears any other thread I may address this issue in the debate forum is locked, so I am here.
It looks like ALOT of 'locking' of threads will be necessary if the originator is no longer an active member. You may want to rethink locking threads that have obviously taken a life of their own and have been within the 'guidelines' of the forum or we may hear a vacumm sound and/or a bunch of disgruntled members thinking this action is inappropriate and worry if other areas will have thread locked since members come and go, yet the threads persist. There are more than a few that will be impacted if this new 'guideline' is equally applied! Just my thoughts. Regards |

the post indicated that you MAY start your own thread on the topic,
since the member that started the thread is no longer a member of the Roo .... since MAA is no longer able to rebuttle any discussions .... |
