In the UK a child of 5 months was savaged to death by two rotwielers on the balcony of a pub there is no question that thees dogs in the wrong hands are basically a dangerous weapon.
In view of all large breed dogs do you think that new laws should be passed, where the owners should have to pass and undergo some sort of test after a being trained on how to handle these large breed dogs, and should they be responsible by law for the any attacks the dogs are involved in especially when it results in a death another case Last Updated: Friday, 22 September 2006, 16:57 GMT 17:57 UK ![]() E-mail this to a friend Printable version Two charged after dog mauls boy George Brown is recovering after being mauled by a bulldog Boy recovers at home Two people have been charged after a four-year-old from Cambridgeshire had his face partially bitten off by a dog

you've made some very good points there les, but even if people do go through some type of training to keep large dogs of this kind is it going to solve the problem?
For examle, I could pass all test with flying colors obtain a license, if you please then go home and train the dog to be viscious. However I do agree that to a certain extent the owner should be prosecuted if the dog was to attack. If a dog attacks then it is put to sleep, but nothing is done to the owner, but the majority of the time it is the owners fault for training the dog to do so.

Below is an article realating to the little girl.
Mauled baby's grandfather stabbed Ms Larn and Mr Brightwell were attacked in their home A woman has been stabbed to death and her partner seriously injured in an attack just a day after the man's grandchild was fatally mauled by dogs. Debra Larn, 47, and John Brightwell, 50, were attacked at their Beaumont Leys home in Leicester on Sunday. The day before, Mr Brightwell's five-month-old granddaughter was killed by two Rottweiler dogs. A 26-year-old man will appear in court on Tuesday charged with murder and causing grievous bodily harm. The death of baby Cadey-Lee Deacon on Sunday at The Rocket pub in Leicester is not being linked to the attack. Fire door The two dogs, which lived at the pub, were put down after the attack. In a statement issued through Leicestershire Constabulary, Cadey-Lee's mother, Amy Deacon and her partner, Lee Burchell, who managed the pub, said: "Words cannot express our devastation at what has happened. We just cannot believe that Cadey-Lee is gone. Flowers have been left outside the pub where the baby died "She was such a beautiful little girl. We loved her so much and we just can't accept that something like this could have happened. How do you come to terms with such a tragedy?" The couple thanked the public for the outpouring of support and asked for "time to grieve for our little girl in peace". Chief Superintendent Steve Pitts, of Leicestershire Constabulary, said Mr Buchell's mother Lesley was the licensee at the pub where the baby died. "Amy and Lee were moving furniture out of the living quarters to new premises when tragedy struck on Saturday. "It appears that a fire escape door was left mistakenly open and allowed the family's dogs, Bruno and Bess, access to the living quarters." He said the dogs made their way to the bedroom in which baby Cadey-Lee was sleeping. "By the time Amy, Lee and the relatives who were helping them move realised what had happened, the dogs had attacked."

Guns don't kill people do!
Dogs don't kill untrained/uncontrolled dogs do! Basically I don't see any difference. The responsible one is that who has 'control' of said weapon! Bottom line the humans alledgely in control should be held accountable, yes manslaughter or murder! Mich...Just my opinion |

Tell me Les, I have a Mastiff dog, is there any point in me offering an opinion on your thread ?
By the way mastiff means large, at this stage I have no reason to tell you what breed it is. I'd be interested myself in hearing what the " LIKES OF YOU AND ME " means, it's a rather presumtuous thing to say, maybe you know more about Mystical than she knows about you. |

I would not feel comfortable if I lived in a neighborhood where some owners had pit bulls.or rottweiler dogs. For some reason these dogs, once trained to be vicious do not seem to be protectors any more, such as for example a trained german shepherd would be, they seem to just kill and attack withou a command as opposed to being trained when to attack in order to protect his owner or property.
Other large dogs are by nature not vicious and usually not trained to kill or attack even though they may bite if you come into their owners territory.
