I remember dad putting lime or stove ashes in there.To what purpose I have no idea..LOL.

That was only to curtail the odor but it didn't help all that much...lol

I have no reason whatsoever to not believe you, as far as I know, you've never lied to anyone much less me the Sears Catalog thing is a bit before my time, I've always had a toilet lol but I did use a proper outhouse once, when visiting distant cousins in BFE Oklahoma lol I was VERY little and I hated it lol *smooch*

I think I have told you this before, but most of the outhouses had two buckets of cobs in them..One was a red cob and the other was white cobs..You always used a red cob first and then a white one to see if you did a good job..lol
