A glass of whisky
A GLASS OF WHISKY
A man faints in the street. A crowd collects, somebody tries to wash his face, somebody tries to shake him, somebody tries to give him smelling salts, somebody tries artificial respiration. But he does not wake up. Throughout all this an elderly lady keeps urging the crowd, “Give the poor man a glass of whisky, O give the poor man a glass of whisky!” and she says it again and again. Finally the man gets up and shouts, “Why don’t you listen to the lady? Give me a glass of whisky!” |
