New guide for pic sizes.

After a time of discussion amongst the new Roo admin and the mods the sizes have been specified.

First I wish to thank everyone who has been respectful to the tentative rules previously posted I very much, along with other mods, appreciate all the concerted efforts.

I also want to say it means a lot that all of you have put forth an effort to abide by the rules as we were trying to discern what would best work for all members of the forum.

The new sizes are as disclosed;

The average size should be approximately 500 pixels for single pictures. [This can also follow the next rule]
Roo will allow for 600 pixels, especially for multi boxed cartoons. However; if you go to 650, that is fine as well. Sometimes you will have to decide if the writing would best be seen at 650.

Anything bigger will be a breach of the picture size rules.
800 is too large, and therefore should be avoided.

700 seems a bit large too, BUT due to the former ruling which was not yet standard, we will allow for the older pics at 700 pixels to remain as they are.

If anyone has any sites they prefer to use to minimize pixel size, please refer them in here until this thread is closed.

If anyone has any concerns whatsoever; please refer them in private.

Sorry ... won't be discussed in private by me ...

I think this is a blatant slam to the members that had the problem with the one MOD and just a slap in our faces to confer and decide all this behind the scenes without asking one opinion of the members of the Roo that does the posting. Especially those that had the issues with the Mod and her own size requirements.

Not one thread was made or discussed with the members. It was all done behind the scenes with MODs and mangagement only.

we debated it pretty heavily spider, Jokaroo said that he prefers 500, I've already been resizing my pics to this, nothing already in existance will be deleted and PM's must be sent out to the post originator giving them time to resize the pic or get it resized before it's deleted, now if those PM's are ignored, the post will be deleted, we asked that rules be established, and they have been, I've pushed and pushed to get a resizer installed into our uploader so for those who still need a way to resize their pics and are not fond of going to others for that task, here is an uploader with a resizer

Thank you so much for responding ... however ... no matter how you look at it .... it is still a slap in the face of those that battled with the situation before. As usual a decision is made without asking opinions of those posting the pics ..... and having it debated pretty heavily ... not with the posters ... only with MODS and we know exactly where those opinions were before the debating began.

None of this would have happened at all, had one person not had a personality issue with a few of the members. Sorry ... I call a spade a spade!!!!!

this is true, it would never have came up if not for the deletions, and I'm just as guilty of making an issue out of it as anyone lol but it doesn't change the fact that it was Jokaroo who wanted 500, lara pushed for 700 and I pushed for 800 lol 600-650 is just where we wound up lol

Well .. then why wasn't the membership of the Roo asked? Why was this only between the MODS that already had their minds set and management? Why couldn't a vote be taken? As usual, a rule is made with no opinions from those that are making the post count rise, from those that have been long standing members. From members that hung in after all the issues the Roo has gone through the last year.

What can be said Spidey?

I dont want to upset you. You should know, if you do not already know, that I look to you as a loyal co member. And as a compadre. I appreciate your zeal on this issue, truly.

However; and dont take this personally because it is not. But Roo is the final decision maker. The mods can request, ask or suggest, but Roo makes all final choices.

WE went thru a variety of pic sizes to determine which ones would stay within the course of Roo admin's preference. Based on their sig size preference we brought the issue to the table.

Although Roo never abdicated the option to the members, it was never a norm that they should. In keeping with the fact they choose to remain in control of the forum so all members will be able to surf without difficulties.

We do know that not every person will be satisfied with every rule, the rules still must be decided upon. A private forum will not always match what is suitable for everyone, so the rules must be made in regards to all that apply. IE, the pics must be smaller so that those who have the most trouble loading the pages are not forced to abstain from the threads that have higher resolution tables.

Think of it this way, m'dearest, if someone is now able to join in because the pics do not hinder them, you may meet some new and productive members who could be otherwise alienated.

Think positively, for every action, they must be a reason.

You know, without a doubt, I am not upset or angry with you personally. I am upset with the fact of how the WHOLE entire thing has been handled from beginning to THIS end. In the END, it is the members that are being totally punished.

Never once on dial up did I have a problem with the larger pics posted in the threads. It was all the graphics in the sig pics that slowed things for me, not pic size. I did eliminate the sig pics and tested, so I know for a fact what caused the slowing. I love the sig pics so not viewing them is not an option for me.

I understand, as management it is their perogative to do as they see fit. It is once again, how they handled a situation that got so out of hand and their end result that infuriates me. I know you will not like what I am about to say, so you might not want to read it .... lol.

Had there not been an issue with ONE MOD and her personality issues with certains members, this issue would not be one and we would be posting pics like we always have in the past. The issue was so out of hand, that threads were purposely moved to spite the members and nothing at all has been done with the MOD in question. Now, if Zmama can be banned because of not following the MOD RULES (when spammers were running amuck) what kind of punishment does one receive for what was displayed and the behavior that was exhibited on said MODS behalf.

We, the members, are now forced to adhere to more rules, yet nothing is said or done with the MOD that caused this issue to begin with.

I am sorry, because I know you do not truly agree with me on this issue. However, I will not stand by and agree with everything when in my heart, it is totally WRONG.

I know we will learn to live with the smaller pics, but I will not be so trusting of how things are going to be moderated, ever again. I did hold out hope that something would happen considering how fast they banned Zmama for her said behavior. Sorry, but I lost my respect for everyone with the decision on how this has been handled.
