Luke 9:51-62
51) When the days drew near for him to be received up, he set his face to go to Jerusalem. 52) And he sent messengers ahead of him, who went and entered a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him; 53) but the people would not receive him, because his face was set toward Jerusalem. 54) And when his disciples James and John saw it, they said, "Lord, do you want us to bid fire come down from heaven and consume them?" 55) But he turned and rebuked them. 56) And they went on to another village. 57) As they were going along the road, a man said to him, "I will follow you wherever you go." 58) And Jesus said to him, " Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head." 59) To another he said, " Follow me." But he said, "Lord, let me first go and bury my father." 60) But he said to him, " Leave the dead to bury their own dead; but as for you, go and proclaim the kingdom of God." 61) Another said, "I will follow you, Lord; but let me first say farewell to those at my home." 62) Jesus said to him, " No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God."

Revelation 15:1-8

Then I saw another portent in heaven, great and wonderful, seven angels with seven plagues, which are the last, for with them the wrath of God is ended. And I saw what appeared to be a sea of glass mingled with fire, and those who had conquered the beast and its image and the number of its name, standing beside the sea of glass with harps of God in their hands. And they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, "Great and wonderful are thy deeds,
O Lord God the Almighty!
Just and true are thy ways,
O King of the ages!
Who shall not fear and glorify thy name, O Lord?
For thou alone art holy.
All nations shall come and worship thee,
for thy judgments have been revealed."

After this I looked, and the temple of the tent of witness in heaven was opened, and out of the temple came the seven angels with the seven plagues, robed in pure bright linen, and their breasts girded with golden girdles. And one of the four living creatures gave the seven angels seven golden bowls full of the wrath of God who lives for ever and ever; and the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from his power, and no one could enter the temple until the seven plagues of the seven angels were ended.

What should be the source of our beliefs and the guide for our behavior?

"So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" (Romans 10:17; compare verses 15-16).

"To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them" (Isaiah 8:20).

If we really want to follow God according to His instructions, we must honestly evaluate the origins of our present worship habits and way of life. We need to ask ourselves whether they are derived from the Scriptures. Are our teachers faithful to God's Word? Or are they merely disseminating the ideas and teachings of men? The answer to these questions make an enormous difference in whether God will work with us as His servants or whether He will reject us.
