good rules Spanky!

I am sure if every child followed them, they would be able to enjoy their time on the net without anything bad happening!

Well, that, and if you play the game, you're taking your chances...and again, don't be surprised if it comes back to bite you in the ass.

Essentially, it's user beware...

And Grouchie, you're right...most peoples' kids already know this stuff. It's the adults who seem to forget...

it isn't only GIVING the information out ... it is how you have your computer set up .... if you have it set with you real name and personal information ... your information can be tied to your IP address ....

Good call, Spidey...

These are general rules for what can happen while you're online, based on the choices we make as internet users...there could be a whole different thread on technological safety measures that can be taken as well.

That might not be a bad idea for a second sticky thread...

I didn't know where else to put this, since the topic of this thread is child safety, I brought it here, think a smoke detector is enough to save your children?

Well, it's just an alert signal or an alarm...for most people, it's probably enough...but not for all.

Then again, how many people take the batteries out of their smoke alarms (and leave them out?!) because the alarm goes off 'every time they use the oven'...or something like that...

And finally...like I said, it's just an alert...and if people choose to disable them, then they won't be doing anything to even alert us.
Or I guess if people choose to ignore them, then it's the same thing...it's like ignoring the 'check engine light' on your dash when it comes on, but then acting surprised when your engine quits one day while driving...
