Over Zealous moderation is something I would prefer to avoid myself.

Your preference for having moderators who are active on the board is not an unreasonable qualification for a new Moderator to have.

You're on the board more frequently than me, it's more about contribution than quantity.

I'd support a campaign to elect you to the postion of Global Moderator.

Why hang around on the lower levels of a Moderators online life, you'd get the support from members to go straight to the top ?

I'm one that needs moderating against. I sail a little to close to the wind for me to be a moderator. And the trouble with being at the top is, there's only one way back.
And to be honest Flynn, if you proposed me that would certainly be the kiss of death, nice thought though, must be Xmas.

Yeah I've seen your sailing, that's why you'd be able to help others navigate around the Roo Community. You know right from wrong even if you don't personally want to observe the rules yourself.

I can see how that would cramp your style.

By the way, I wasn't going to propose anyone, I was just going to give my approval which is still pretty much a kiss of death I guess.

One of the most overlooked qualities to a good moderator is the ability to ignore a user's overall tilt and view each post on it's own merits. Knowing right from wrong and stretching you personal input is just what the doctor ordered for a mod. I mod in some groups at yahoo and all the good ones I've seen were users that stretched things out a little. The only area of zero tolerance I'd suggest is on attacking other users. Disagreeing on a point of view is to be ENCOURAGED, but blasting others for that view is wrong.

So ROO management should listen to Flynn's comments and who he is should not effect their judgment of the content. And I think Kipper would be a good choice for moderator.

there was no vote last time, Roo selected mods from the list of names put forward based on a list of THEIR criteria, the ability and willingness to help others was top on that list, I didn't even get told I'd been selected, I just woke up one day to moderator under my name lol for the most part, the Roo has really good coverage, but there will be times when it may take a bit for spam to be taken care of ... I'm home! lol

Personaly... I think the mods deserve a great amount of respect. They get bitched at for doing thier jobs by ppl that call/called them friend. I can totlay understand why so many have left. Its a crappy job and they did it for the love of roo & you! But... most ppl seem to forget that!
