Forward
Most of us who have been here at Jokaroo for more than a year may well remember what it is like to be a neophyte, a Newbie. You join and become a member, you wish to fit in and become recognized - one of the crowd. But when you attempt to post graphics, design your Signature Page or even your Avatar, you soon discover things are
not going for you the way you had wished nor imagined.
How come my picture doesn’t come up? ...... why is there a red "
X"? ..... I entered the link but all I got for my trouble was the text - where’s my photo? Over the last year I have received at least a hundred PM’s and e-mails from new members frustrated with the situation here at the Roo. Relax, take a deep breath, and repeat after me: "It’s not all that bad, I can do it, all will be good!"
I wrote this post in a very simplistic manner to tailor it to even the very basic computer user. For those of you who are more advanced, bear with me even if the text
does read like "See Spot Run". Now that we both understand why you are here, let’s get started:
Chapter 1:
Icon vs. Code
Since Jokaroo is technically a giant bulletin-board, everything you do here will be governed by the innocuous "Edit Window". If you design or change your Sig Page you will go to the Edit window; if you send or reply to a Private Message (PM), you will deal with the Edit window; and every time you post to a thread or respond to someone else’s post - yes, you will be staring at the Edit window. You can’t escape it so it’s best to make it your friend.
There are those of us here who like, or even enjoy, using "Codes" in their Editor. I’m sure you have seen them before, the
and sort of thing. I for one, HATE codes. I refuse to deal with them if at all possible. For me, there is nothing better than What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get (WYSIWYG) mode of editing. Let the others keep their codes, my fingers cramp up from all theat typing and I make too many errors anyway.

So call me lazy but I’d rather click on an icon. Therefore, this article is written to support Enhanced or WYSIWYG form of editing. Which editor are
you using?
User Control PanelBefore we start, it seems pertinent for me to remind you that not all browsers recognize nor accept WYSIWYG forms of editors. For example, older versions of Netscape, Firefox, and even Windows own Internet Explorer will not work in Enhanced mode. Therefore, if you change your editor selection and it STILL refuses to come up in Enhanced mode, it could be because your browser simply does not like it.
In order to determine which edit mode you have your system set up for, we must first go to the User Control Panel. To do this, go to the blue bar (See Figure 1 ) .....
....... at the top of any page (See Figure 2 ) and click on "User CP".
When the next window appears, look to the left side of the page (See Figure 3 ) and note the column of choices you have.
Select "Edit Options" and click on that. This will bring up yet another window and now scroll down to the bottom and find the "Miscellaneous Options" box. The heading will be: "Message Editor Interface". (See Figure 4)
At the bottom you will find a drop arrow box. ( See Figure 5) Inside this box it should say: "Enhanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing" If it does not, click on the arrow and select that option.
Now click on "Save Changes" (See Figure 6 ) and you’re all done !!!
Chapter 2:
How to upload pics.
Here is the thread explaining that.
