Love the spider shots Phil ~ really good.....we have loads of birds in the garden ~ and sometimes we get a homing pigeon [very hard to catch ~ but have done on one occasion, took it to our local vets ~ and they contact the owner, who comes and gets it] ~ this morning, what do I find.... hopefully it will eat, drink and be on it's way....

The bodies of both spiders were about 3/8" long; that should give you some perspective.

When I got in to work this morning I was in the office kitchen filling the kettle, looking out over the river, when I saw a flash of bright blue.
A kingfisher was on the opposite side of the river.
Unfortunately the zoom on my camera is not powerful enough for me to have taken a photo, but it's things like that, first thing in the morning, which really lift the spirits.

Click the pic for a larger version.
The Hart of Totnes has been condemned; there is a planning permission notice attached to the nearest lamp post stating that it will be replaced with a new playship.

It's mainly wood, and has been there for a good few years. A lot of the boards need replacing before it becomes a danger to kids, and it's probably cheaper and easier to replace the whole thing.

The planning permission application is for another playship, so it won't be too different.

Can't you tell the difference between a spider and a donkey?
And what made you think I like donkeys anyway?

It was a very foggy morning at 6:30am, but by 8am most of the mist had burned off.

Rising mist by Phil Gayton, on Flickr

There was just an odd pocket of mist here and there, such as that on the west bank of the Dart, between Totnes and Sharpham.
