According to what I can find there's only one like a real ale, Peter: Bernard Free Amber: Bernard Free Alcohol-Free Beer (0.5%) - 12 x 500ml : Alcohol-Free Beer - The Alcohol-Free Shop

You should drink tea in little china cups in the Albert and get everyone to do the same and all laugh, auf auf auf.Put a sign up outside "TYPICAL ENGLISH TEA ROOMS" Giles will make a fortune with American tourists, as they think all English are like that.

CAN YOU NOT BUY NON ALCOHOLIC WHISKEY,BRANDY,RUM.

Sod off - Totnes is full of tea rooms, cafes and restaurants. the Albert is a pub, and shall remain so; there's enough of 'em closing down as it is.

Totnes is the only gay village in Devon.

We have our fair share of those who "bat for the other team" in Totnes, but most of the tea rooms etc. are to cater for the coach loads of elderly tourists we get; not so much the Pink Pound, more the Senile Shilling.

I dread the thought of that happening - The Albert is the only proper, old fashioned pub in the area; the jukebox is only on when some kid asks for it to be on, which ain't very often.

    13 March

They've finally got my INR (blood coagulation) reading going the right way: 1.8 now.
If it's over 2 on Friday I will only need to see the nurse to have it checked once a week.

...and I've just had an e-mail from the landlord of the Albert Inn - he should have some low alcohol booze in for me on Thursday.

Would sitting on the floor and drinking ordinary beer not do the same thing?..

I don't know if they still do, but Tesco certainly used to stock Bernard Free according to the January 2011 Good Beer Guide.

Twice last week we had groups of around 25 young Americans (aged between 18 & 20) in The Albert, hitting the ale and scrumpy, and getting a view of the brewery.
Why is it they can't buy beer in rounds, or get a kitty together?
When there is only one person running the bar, it can be an absolute pain for both the staff and customers when 25 people order their drinks etc individually.
By the time the last one is served, the first one is ready to order again!

If the buggers did drink in rounds, i would like to get to the bar before them they must love it here in Blighty as they can legally drink beer.

It doesn't worry me too much at the moment - I'd only be drinking a mug of tea or a damned bitter lemon and sodding tonic.
Why is it all the non-alcoholic choices seem to be so sweet - I don't have a sweet tooth at all.

I tried a bottle of ginger beer a couple of weeks back - WAAYYYY too sweet!

    As for sobering up...

...you know how a REALLY good night on the piss takes about a day and a half to recover from?

Well, multiply 38 years by 1.5 = 57 years; so roughly, I'll have sobered up properly by the time I'm 111 years old.
