Lightbulb Stand up to Cancer (add if you wish)

    Watched this special, last nite.
Every one of us have been touched by this horrible disease in one way or another.
    If you can contribute, fine.
If not just sit back and reflect on who it is that you STAND UP for.

I logged on to my dusty old Twitter account so I could 'tweet' that I was standing up for my Mom.
There's a place at the top of the page for "Direct Messages".......It's been ages since I logged on so I clicked to see what was there.
    There was only one message.
    It was from Mike.

So, besides Standing Up for Mom, I also Stand Up for Mike Banas.

Taylor wrote a song for a 4 year old boy called Ronan who passed away from a battle with Cancer, Taylor wrote the single after reading a blog from Ronan's mother who helped Taylor write the song. This is one of the sweetest songs Taylor has ever written!

    I remember your bare feet,
    Down the hallway,
    I remember your little laugh,
    Racecars on the kitchen floor,
    Plastic dinosaurs
I love you to the moon and back,

    I remember your blue eyes,
    Lookin' into mine,
Like we had our own secret club,
    I remember you dancin',
    Before bed time,
Then jumpin' on me wakin' me up,
I can still feel you hold my hand,
    Little man,
And even the moment I knew,
You fought it hard like an army guy,

Rememeber I, leaned in and whispered to you,
    Come on baby with me,
    We're gonna fly away,
    From here,
    You were, my best, friend,
    For years,

    I remember the drive home,
    When the blind hope,
    Turned to cryin' and screamin',
And why, flowers fell up in the worst way,
    Don't know what to say,
    To a beautiful, your dyin',
And it's about to be Halloween,
    You could be anything,
You wanted if you were still here,
    I remember the last day,
    When I kissed your face,
    And whispered in your ear,

Come on baby with me, we're gonna fly away,
    From here,
Out of this curtain, this room, oh this house of grey,
    We'll just disappear,

Come on baby with me, we're gonna fly away,
    From here,
    You were my best, friend,
    For years,

And what if I'm standin' in your closet,
    Tryin' to talk to you,
And what if I can't the hand-me-downs you don't fit into,
And what if I really thought, some miracle would see us through,
But maybe the miracle, wasn't even getting one moment, with you,

Come on baby, with me, we're gonna fly away,
    From here,
Come on baby, with me, we're gonna fly away,
    From here,

You were my best, for years,

I remember your barefeet, down the hallway,
I love you to the moon and back,

    Dear Cancer,

You have taken away such special people in my family. You rampage through my husband’s side of the family. You’ve attacked his uncle (and lost, you fiend),taken his great-grandmother, his aunt, and now you’ve taken his father. A man who was the best father to my husband and the best grandfather to my children. You are ugly and depraved and someday through science and the Grace of God, you will be no more. Fair warning, you stay away from my husband and my sons. You’ve never met anyone like me. Though you think you can not run, but gallop, through my family…turn your evil hooves around because I’m the butcher and you’ll just be nothing on the slaughterhouse floor!

    Dear Cancer,

You come like thief in the night. You think you have so much power, as you attack the young and the old. Mothers; fathers; sisters; friends; cousins; brothers, the list could go on! It’s as if you feary has no end! Do you get joy out of others pain? Do feel pleasure watching others suffer? Do you sit in the dark with your wicked smile as you hand out death sentences? Well I have news for you. There is someone higher than you! Someone who allows you to do these things. For many, not all, but many of the horrible things you do, will only bring glory to the one higher than you. Bringing families closer, making the weak strong and the sick thankful. So wipe that grin off your face, because our Lord and our savior has filled us with Abundant Grace! Take note because many times you, oh you, my dear cancer, are simply a pon in the plan(s) that the Lord has made. The plans to give us a hope and a future.
    Sincerely,
A proud daughter, friend and cousin of those you try to steal. To God be the Glory.

    Dear Cancer,

Dear Cancer, when you came into my life, I thought it was just a dream. You took my life, or so you thought . Just to let you know, it’s time for u to leave. I don’t rent out free rooms to killers like you. U are evil and a murderer of innocent people and u don’t deserve to live. So pack your bags cuz officer Chemo will be here to lock u up forever. Kiss my ass Cancer. U will not get the best of me.

    Dear Cancer,
I will beat you. You are not welcome here. My father always taught me hate is a strong word and to use it sparingly. I hate you cancer, and you don’t belong here.

Twelve years ago cancer took my Father just three days before my 48th. birthday I had flew up to Wisconsin to see him two days before my birthday on one of those greviness flights on T.W.A. they must of known on the plane cause I got bumped up to first class. When I got to for Billy Michall airport in Milwaukee and saw my sister first thing she said that Dad passed away yesterday and we didn't want to tell you so you could have a good flight.
I had to be strong for my Mother and family while there it took me to get back home to California in bed that night that is when I cried like a baby for hours and finnially fell asleep.
Yes I'll go to my twitter account and all the others I belong to and repost this.

I still miss him dearly but he still gives me the very best advice when I talk with him in prayers along with Jesus.

    Excellent thread, Horty

I have never lost anyone close to me from cancer.
My only sibling, my older sister beat Hodgekins Lymphnoma about 10 years ago.
A best friend of mine beat breast cancer a few years ago, and had a mascectomy...

After seeing what they both went through,.. I tell myself that if I ever get diagnosed
with cancer, I won't fight it. That's how I feel now, maybe would change my mind
if it ever happened. Does anyone else feel this way?

My Mom went thru the chemo and radiation.
Her best friend, Norma, saw how sick she was all the time from it and vowed not to go thru it.

Mom lived 2 years with it.
    Norma, six months.

If nothing else, it gave Mom time to make sure all her "affairs" were in order......She didn't have to piss with a Will, as she took the time to personally give what she wanted to give to whom.

Personally, I don't know which way I'd choose.
That self-preservation instinct kicks in and - not really the fear of death - the fear of dying.

    that was my thought, Horty
after watching hubby go through 2 cardiac catheterizations, bypass surgery and then a second surgery when the bypass site collapsed, I vowed I'd rather die of a heart attack than go through that
and then I was facing that very thing ... you just don't know how strong the will to live really is until you think you might not live!

Thank you so much for the kind reply...
I had been thinking about what I posted, and I didn't know what to expect..
For one, I thought,.. "not really 'standing up to cancer', is it?"

Also, I think if it did happen to me, the number one factor in 'fighting it' would be my son.
How could I not put up a fight for him to not lose his mom?
And, my husband... for the same reason.

I guess it would have alot to do with what type, and what prognosis.

So sorry you lost your mom to cancer
