Thanks for this. I will stick with Windows 7, which seems to work quite well, though I do need to get a new printer and scanner because my existing ones won't work with it.

What make is it Geoff? I had to download different drivers for my Canon when I switched to 7...

Mine is a Canon LBP 5200. I have hunted high and low for drivers, but been unable to find one, which surprosed me. Usually I am good at finding drivers.

I have a lap top and a PC with both win8.1 and I just hated it so I went back and bought one each with Win7 and have been happy ever since. The Win8 Laptop I upgraded it to 10 but have not spent any time with it as I figure it is there and I like the Win 7 better as it works about like the old XP and Vista, so for now until they do away with 7 I am staying with it. What little bit I did see on 10 it seemed about as confusing as 8.1,,

Am finding it quite good now as I navigate further into it, my biggest gripe is the fact it changes settings and updates without you knowing, similar to when Vista was launched. The latest is when I turned my computer off the usb ports were still live and stayed live unless you unplug/switch the computer off at the mains, however, there is a setting that will prevent this, but as I said before you need to be computer savvy to find it which pisses me off somewhat.

The bios will allow them to be disabled completely, but that is not what Kipper was complaining about.

That's not the point, I can defer them as I have professional, but I think the ordinary one there is no such option which seems daft. Also no right click refresh in edge that I can find. Just trying to give an idiots guide to windows 10.

Amen to what Lynn said! This computer seems to be going through it's death throes and unless I switch to an Apple system, I am going to have to learn Windows 10!

Form the sound of it, you should get the "Professional" version as there are more tweaks available.

You'd better as Kipper, but I think you may find that you can't disable a lot of the crap unless you have the "Professional" version.
