It won`t be that long believe me.Windows 10 is that bad they give it away free, so they will have to make money with the next windows that will be far superior. At the moment windows 7 is working fine with good updates so why fix something that`s now broken.I even tried windows 8 i hated it so i went back to windows 7.I`m happy with that for now.

There won't be one which is why it's free to upgrade if you're eligible, 10 is the last but they will do upgrades...

If you get a new computer that has Windows 10, it might be OK. If you put it on an old one, just be prepared to replace most of the hardware with equipment made to run with 10, because that operating system will delete your drivers, as they are incompatible with the operating system.

Well I've been running it now for quite awhile and nothing has happened, can't see how the operating system can delete your drivers, most new software and hardware grades and operates downwards.

It is quite possible that the old drivers won't work, but unlikely for anything within the computer. Few internal components use anything except very generic drivers, for which Windows 10 has adequate replacements. Older external equipment such as printers, scanners or specialised monitors may well cause driver problems, though in some cases new drivers can be found for Win 10, though that isn't always easy. That will be a problem if you buy a computer built for Win 10 (most of the "bargain" new computers sold with Win 10 weren't actually built for it, and the majority don't have enough memory to actually work successfully).

I am still having to use an external CD rom even after going back to Windows 8.1, since the drivers for the built-in CD rom do not exist after the upgrade. It also killed my sound card, but at least reverting fixed that issue.

I had similar driver problems. I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and could no longer connect to the internet with a dongle (the only connection I have at home). I reverted to Windows 7 and internet access returned, but several peripherals did not work at all. I did a Google search and several people had the same problems with drivers, one of whom had kindly put together a recovery application which I downloaded and ran that got most of my devices working again; the rest I did individually, although I did have to completely uninstall and reinstall in one case.

Is there any way in hell I can permanently stop all the Windows 10 notifications? Fucking things are acting like a virus ... popping up on the screen several times every day, and I wonder if that may be why my lappy is acting all wonky again.

Try this: How to disable the "Get Windows 10" icon shown in the notification area (tray)? - Super User

You may well have to hide the KB3035583 update again after running a clean up program such as CCleaner, as it could remove the "Hide" file. I've had to do this several times, but it's better than getting constant annoying update notifications. Also, if you have automatic updates turned on, before they install check for KB3035583 and hide it if it is there before allowing them to install.

There is also "GWX Control Panel" which is free to download, but I haven't tried it so can't say how good it is. Download on this page:

Most of what I tried failed. However, (crosses my fingers) I changed the permissions for GWX.exe, rebooted the laptop, and have not seen that annoyance yet.

I have a brand new HP laptop with Windows 10 now, and it will not allow me to install Ulead Photoimpact 5 from the CD rom, even tho the same drive allowed me to install other softwares. It was my favorite photo editing software.

That's because Microsoft couldn't give a shit about back compatibility and providers of other software are not going to create updates for earlier versions of their software to be compatible. They all make more money by forcing people to upgrade.

At least PSP 7 and 9 both work. They just are not as comprehensive as what I had, and Corel's latest product is missing a ton of features I had gotten used to.

Did you attempt it through auto run or setup.exe?

when trying to install the software from CD rom, I used different options. 1 was to just try to auto-run the disc, and the other was to open to view files, and then run the application from there. Both showed the same screen. Both allowed me to click for the install. Both failed. The button turned from blue to yellow, and back to blue after a few minutes.
