take it a little further, would you allow your child to be chipped? you'd always know where they were
they already do it to pets

For years, I've been wishing to be chipped for all the information I have to provide. Credit cards, debit cards, driver's licence, health care, passport, etc. Think about it... Someone grabs your wallet or your purse. They have every personal thing you own. On the other hand, if someone grabs you, there's a better chance they'll have a hard time with the info you carry if they don't know where the chip is or if you have one.
Before you say scanning, I carry my cards in a metal case. A simple metal bracelet would conceal the chip. There is no fool-proof method. But chipping is far safer than cards.

It wouldn't particularly bother me being microchipped, but I don't see the point in chipping humans, I believe it's going to be superseded soon by biometric identification. With the advances in the amount of material required and the speed of processing I can see DNA identification being possible from just a touch in the none too distant future.

G.G.had told me about the medal casing of your cards some time ago and I have done that and fell much safer now also from them being used if stolen.

Personally I don't think I'd like to be chiped for the amount of hackers in this world always wanting something for nothing it would be easy for them to hack I would think. Even with GPS in your vehicles if your child is using it it's really easy to find out where that vehicle is.

Although you question is would you be chiped by your work? NO.

Doesn't bother me that much. There is a lot more to get worked up about.

I think it's like anything else, it's a sign of the times. That being said, while I'm unbelievably impressed with the technology, I'm not sure if I'd feel comfortable with something like that. Not that we have a whole lot of privacy in our lives these days, but I'd kind of like to hold on to the little bit that do I have. It will be interesting though to see what percentage of people will volunteer for such a thing as opposed to those who will not. On that same note, will this really be on a volunteer basis or will employers be hiring only those who agree to be chipped? hmmm that, like I said earlier, will be interesting. My opinion may change as time goes on and we learn more about this kind of thing, but as for now, I'm saying no way jose!

No GPS? Big question: "How would I know?"

As I mentioned, a microchip in your wrist can be easily concealed by a metal bracelet, making it impossible to be scanned by thieves. The new passports have a readable chip. If anyone in proximity wants to scan the passport, it can be scanned as far as 25/30 feet away. Credit/debit cards are now issued with chips which can also be scanned from a distance. Metal cases are the only protection until you get your passport or card out of it.

GPS? Newer cars have them, being traceable anywhere. Some cell phones have that option as well. Let's face it, thieves would prefer ripping off your purse or wallet instead of cutting off your hand.

I have a feeling the very early computers were not password protected...now, the best one can do (including governments) is to make it as fool-proof as possible. At the moment, the chips are being used as simple employee ID and to buy snacks from the company snackbar, but how long will that last? The company has already said it will be very easy to add more info in the future. Also, I feel that the more chips become popular, the more devices will appear to read them. My last thought is that if you quit your job you turn in your company ID...will that require surgery when you leave?

As a side note...are any of you old enough to remember when we were issued a Social Security and were told to NEVER use it for identification. That didn't last! Today, one can't do much of anything with using their S.S. number!
