we had spider webs floating around in the air at the store last night :hiding:
there was a pair of bats flying around the big lights, I suspect they were knocking webs loose

Another dull weekend, but at least the winds we had on Saturday (Storm Brian) have abated.

On the way back from the launderette I was once again captivated by something as I looked up, this time the autumn gold of a tree beside North Gate Arch, which really caught my eye against the grey of the clouds. I think it may be a mountain ash.

As I walked into town to get some milk for my afternoon tea I noticed a pair of little grebe (tachybaptus ruficollis) adjacent to Steamer Quay parking lot, feeding amongst the debris floating on the surface of the river. They were far enough apart to make it impossible to get a picture of them both but I did manage to snap this one between dives.
