So, as I was watching some of the Barrett-Jackson auction last night, it occured to me: old cars are cool. And in particular, old race cars.

I don't know why it is, but it just is...and it was also brought to my attention as I was doing a Google search for info on an old sports/racing car, and then came across some dudes Flickr pics collection of some historical race somewhere, with some really cool, and some very unique (and some downright odd) race cars.

I don't know what makes old machines so cool, but maybe it was because they were trying out new technologies...well, new to the auto industry, as many of the technologies had been used in airplanes before...well, either way, without further adieu...I'ma start thangs off with the car that triggered the search, and this thread:

haha...yeah, I'll fix that one later...

but cool pic, Squirt...and what I was kinda thinking is not just *old* cars...but cars that kinda mean something to you (or whoever posts the pic)...you know, your first car...or the first car you ever got...um...intimate in...or whatever. Maybe it was a car your dad had or something...as well as old race cars...maybe even military vehicles and stuff...something that kinda stirs something in you, for whatever reason...and if you want, share the reason. haha...I thought it would be kinda fun. haha...I think another catalyst for this thread was that I had been talking to an old girlfriend the other day, and she said she found her diary that had stuff in there about how we used to go down to the beach in my car and make out and whatnot...haha...some fun memories. ;)

Model T![/COLOR][/B]
damn...I was gonna say model "T", but for some reason, I thought they looked different...haha...then again, with all the hot rods, I don't know if I've ever seen an unmodified "T" in a long, long time...

cool truck though...and it would be fun to take something like that to a show or a meet...

nice!

I bet it rides nice on the highway...and yeah, it would be a fun way to drive across the country, since you'd have plenty of room for the people AND the bags and stuff.

haha...by comparison, I drove across Canada (by myself) in that little Integra I had in college, and it SUCKED!! hahaha...I think my back has been humped since. It was fun for short local trips, but not for long distance ones...especially 3 days straight of driving...

The Ultimate in bad-ass...and my favorite race car of all time...the Porsche 917-30...it was THE definitive "Iron Fist in a Velvet Glove", and in the Can-am racing of the 70's, *that's* saying something... :tounge:
