At 6:48 yesterday evening probably the most famous steam locomotive in the world, certainly one of the most widely travelled having been to Australia and the USA, Flying Scotsman passed through Totnes. There was quite a crowd on the station and road bridge; there were even a few spectator at my usual filming spot on Castle Meadow.

The Dartmouth Steam Railway is part of the company which do the "Round Robin" trips which include boat trips between Totnes and Dartmouth and bus trips between Paignton and Totnes. The third leg of the round trip is by steam train between Kingswear (opposite Dartmouth) and Paignton.

For December the Dartmouth Steam Railway has some special evening trains...

Something a bit different: a road movement.

Even in their heyday the "King" class were restricted on where they could travel on the railway due to their weight and dimensions. There is even less of the railway now on which they can safely travel, so movement by road is often the only option.
