50,000 NAMES
(Carved in the Wall)
(written by Jamie O'Hara)

There's teddy bears and high school rings
And old photographs that Mamas bring
Of Daddies with their young boys, playing ball
There's combat boots that he used to wear
When he was sent over there
There's 50,000 names carved in the wall

There's cigarettes and there's cans of beer
And notes that say I miss you dear
And children who don't say anything at all
There's Purple Hearts and packs of gum
And fatherless daughters and fatherless sons
And there's 50,000 names carved in the wall

They come from all across this land
In pickup trucks and minivans
Searching for a boy from long ago
They scan the wall and find his name
The teardrops fall like falling rain
And silently they leave a gift and go

There's Stars of David and Rosary Beads
And Crucifixion figurines
And flowers of all colors, large and small
There's a Boy Scout badge and a merit pin
Little American Flags waving in the wind
And there's 50,000 names carved in the wall

There's 50,000 names carved in the wall

i am a thirteen year viet nam veteran. And i have know and stood next to more fighting victims of war, than most of you will ever know personally. So don't pretend that wars are about freedom!
You can not lie to anyone, now in, or ex military men & women!
It has always been, and will always be because the world has turn
against god; and are willing to kill each other for religions!! Religions have already killed more of god's children than any other cause for death on this earth!! Wake up, people; god alone will be waiting for your choose. Heaven through god; or hell through religions!

I watched the flag pass by one day
It fluttered in the breeze
A young Marine saluted it
And then he stood at ease …

I looked at him in uniform
So young, so tall, so proud
With hair cut square and eyes alert
He'd stand out in any crowd

I thought how many men like him
Had fallen through the years
How many died on foreign soil
How many mothers' tears?

How many pilots' planes shot down?
How many died at sea?
How many foxholes were soldiers' graves?
No, freedom isn't free !

I heard the sound of Taps one night
When everything was still
I listened to the bugler play
And felt a sudden chill

I wondered just how many times
That Taps had meant 'Amen'
When a flag had draped a coffin
Of a brother or a friend

I thought of all the children
Of the mothers and the wives
Of fathers, sons and husbands
With interrupted lives

I thought about a graveyard
at the bottom of the sea
Of unmarked graves in Arlington
No, freedom isn't free

God bless Marine LCPL Carpenter and his family!

Meet Landon ...
His father, Marine LCPL Carpenter, gave his life defending our country in Afghanistan earlier this year, a month before his son was born.
Baby Landon's Mom wants his story to be known.

Never forget the price of freedom.
