Steamer Quay Road has been a series of potholes stitched together with strips of tarmac for a while. At the weekend the worst stretch was skimmed down and resurfaced. Bets are now being taken on how long it is before it gets dug up.
This swan trailed me downstream all the way from the railway bridge, catching up when I stopped to take pictures or just enjoy the morning. I'm pretty sure it is neither Grack nor Grock as at no point did it approach me in the expectation of a feed.
I forgot to say: Tuesday evening I walked home by the river for the first time this year as it was light enough and I had no reason to go via the town. On the way I saw two pairs of merganser in the river, but the light was too poor to take a photo. This morning one of the pairs was in roughly the same spot. They were difficult to photograph because of the riverside branches, but I did manage to get this shot of the male.
