This would have a long wooden handle.
There are larger and smaller versions. What is it?

Pitch forks for sheaves of hay or maybe bundles of thatch/reeds. I thought of something else but it is definitely NOT pc.

"Long wooden handles"....?? So what ever it is would be some distance from the person using this, a couple of things come to mind, like it's in a hole etc, ~ or possibly it's hot, like a furnace ~ anything to do with glass making by any chance?

Bamber as usual is leading you all wrong for he didn't say what the prongs or forklike grabers are made of. The reason why it'd really give it away for they are made of high streangth leather to pinch around an Aferican ostrach neck by the Ranglers. Of course the diferent handle sizes for large and smaller birds.

Now there's a thought, and Steven is right, we don't know what the prongs are made of ~ so if wild life, then possibly a snake catcher.......

That's on the right lines, it is to do with a creature.
