On this day in 1872, Greyfriars Bobby died. A truly special wee dug.
The story is that Skye Terrier Bobby belonged to John Gray, who worked for the Edinburgh City Police as a night watchman. When Gray died in 1858 he was buried in Greyfriars Kirkyard in the Old Town of Edinburgh. Bobby then became well-known locally, because he spent the rest of his life (14 years!) sitting on his master's grave.
