THIS IS THE OLD BODY:
This is the old body, that I have owned since my birth,
It’s the abode that has housed me, since coming to earth,
It might not be perfect, nor pretty, nor even the right size,
But it’s been with me, through life’s lows, & also it’s highs.
This is the old body, that’s been kicked, punched, & spurned,
Now wrinkled, creased & softened, with it’s passion all burned,
It may not be perfect, nor beautiful, with each scar, vein, & line,
But it has been with me always, & it is entirely mine, only mine.
This is the old body, that I’ve loved, & who’s loved me back too,
The body who has cared for many, & to all loved ones, been true,
It may not be perfect, nor pristine, within each pleat, dent, & fold,
But, gently within its ageing, this old body, I will forever still hold.
