I posted a while back in my "I also need leg surgery" thread some while back, Homie.
Then, it was confirmed that the chemotherapy was not having any effect, so it was cancelled. The cancer had spread from my oesophagus to my lungs, liver and back. They had no treatment to offer that would increase my life ecpectancy (now three to five months), so the only things I am having now are to make me more comfortable, priarily morphine in two different forms.
I am due to see the consultant again on 31 August, but there are no further tests booked, so I can't imagine what he will say then. Meantime, I carry on the best I can, still looking after myself, and still manage to smile a lot of the time.
I was diagnosed with bladder cancer in March this year (massive 6cm x 4cm x 2cm invasive aggressive tumour, stage T3). I had a radical cystectomy in April (bladder, prostate and lymph nodes removed, then a neo-bladder constructed from part of my bowel, all with keyhole surgery and the da Vinci robotic system). My recovery was going well until 5 weeks ago, when the tube from my left kidney into the neo-bladder tore open, filling my stomach with urine and requiring an emergency operation. I am now trying to recover from this, and will have to start chemotherapy soon.
Just a note to say I am now 7yrs 7mos cancer free. and Doc said I do not need to come back anymore. I said yes I want to come back for another test next April and he asked why,, I said I want an even number, he laughed and said OK
Hello to all my friends on the Roo. Unfortunately in October 2017 I was diagnosed with Bowel cancer. I had a large tumour in my bowel, but the oncologist said they could remove it no problem. But I was also sent for a scan. This revealed that the cancer had spread to my liver and peritonea (the skin in my stomach). It turned out that it was too far advanced and so was terminal and the tumour operation was a no go. I was told I could get 3 years if the treatment worked.I had four months of Chemo and it was successful in not only shrinking it but it actually cleared it away. This meant i had no treatment but a scan every 8 weeks. This lasted for 9 months when the Peritonea cancer, but not the tumour or the liver cancer came back. had 3 months treatment with the same 2 Chemo’s and got the result last week. Again I have been given 3 months no treatment, when I have a scan at the end of end of June and depending on the result we go on from there. There are only 3 Chemo’s I can have so when the ones I am on now do not work, I go on the final one. I was 70 years old a week ago so I have had a good innings, though it is hard on my wife of 50 years Maureen.
I know you will all wish me the best and I will continue to fight it to the end.
