I wanted to do a thread about some of the things that I see wrong around here, but I wanted to do it in a constructive fashion so that what is said is taken seriously, it doesn't take a genius to see that the Roo is not making a turn around, certainly not what I expected after the AFF ads were removed, I'd like to know what you think can be done to make this a better place, to make it THE place people want to be, that's the way it was when I joined, I shake my head in amazement when I think back to those days, it's so different now ...

I will moderate this thread very carefully, I will not tolerate any Roo bashing or negativity of any kind, any post I deem as such WILL be deleted!

so ... how about it? any ideas or suggestions out there?

I think they should open up the vault, nobody's posting in there anyway, one of the big attractions was the adult material and there's basically no place to put this type of stuff anymore, any post in the vault is a waste of time right now because nobody would ever see it, so few members have premium privileges

i agree with squirt...open the vault to all members if it is not being used...seems like a good idea to me

Personally... There isn't really much that can be done, (From my perspective,) To bring the Roo back to the way it was about 4 years ago when I joined... A lot has changed... a lot of the people that made the Roo what it was, have gone and moved away, scared away by the poachers.

I admit, for a while, I, myself, had been playing a small game on the Roo... I tried to bait some of the poachers into a trap, and expose them for who they were... Unfortunately, I wasn't very successful...

I believe the Vault was closed because it was the place "Adult" material could go, simply because it is near on impossible for the Roo to keep such material inaccesable to youth... Being that I am no longer "Youth" (I turned 20 last June,) I wouldn't know exactly how people of that age group would feel about it... I certainly wouldn't know how a parent would feel about their children being able to access things on public computers that they have no control over, for "Adult" material.

I am not saying children are smart enough to do something like that anyway... (Only I was devious enough...)

Nor am I saying they are illwitted enough to not pull something like that off...

I am simply saying, opening the "Vault" isn't something that should be done on a whim, just because a few people would like to post there again, but don't wanna pay for membership, (Myself included.)

Uh... What else...

Well.. I've been gone for a while... When was the last time there was a Roo-vention? I am not saying I will automatically go to one... (Unless it was in like.. San Jose...) But... I think those went off quite well in the past?

Also... it might be a good idea to limit what things can be in signatures (Again...) I am not saying that people shouldn't be able to have what they slaved over to make sure it wasn't "Porn," or all that somesuch... but... I was planning on having my thread, about my grandmother put on my families e-mail list... (To all the people who went to the funeral service...) But... I started to look at the signatures of the people who have replied... And... I was thinking... uh... Maybe not.

Of course, I, personally, DO NOT MIND signatures the way they are, or have been in the past that I have seen.

But, then again, It was never, and never will be up to me, what I mind.

I have a question... Does the Roo archive every thread that has come through here? I really hope nothing gets deleted... I don't wanna have to go to the Web Archives just to find a thread I had a long time ago (Not that I am looking for it now... but... What if "Berginyon Lagoona, My Life" gets put away, because people stop posting?? I don't have some of the poems buried in there, ANYWHERE else...) Stupid... I know...

I think that is all I can think of at the moment... it is 6 in the morning... I haven't slept yet... I need sleep... See ya around, Squirt.

the vault is a failed experiment, for most Roo'ers, it's not a matter of wanting or not wanting to pay for it, they simply can't afford it, if we had money to burn, we wouldn't be on the computer, we'd be out living life with it, as far as the adult type material goes, there are ways to keep the vault secure from those who shouldn't see it, either by password access or by "flipping a switch" in the "backroom" but I've always believed that the best defense against kids seeing porn on the internet is parents, there are billions of sites out there that don't take these precautions and if a kid wants to see it bad enough, they'll find a way, that is where the Roo started falling apart, when we began allowing children to tell the adults what to do, who's in charge here? the kids or the adults?

I would also like to see a writer's corner, a place for fiction, non-fiction, fantasy, creative writings, poetry as well as the erotic kind, currently there is no such place here

Two sections of a writters corner? One for more "Mature" material, and one general area?

Because I know I would post all my poetry, (Repost,) in a creative writing place... That would be cool.

I don't mean having a password, or membership for something like the "Mature" material, But having it there... Just as a seperator.. (Honestly... I think "Adult" writting bores the younger ones, anyway.

if we could get it, that would be the best scenario, but I'd settle for a "catch all" for our writings, I didn't understand the last part of your post, was that in reference to the writer's corner or the vault?

Well I myself left the roo because of so much things to do with it and not even because of how the roo changed itself but because of all the drama that was there for a long time, it was nice when I joined and then it went all weird and then I found a couple places to go where I felt weclome(lovebus was one of em as well as the roobus) but then I just took a huge break from it all because of matters in my own life. But coming back right now I've noticed that the pace of this place is rather slow again.... before if you left for a few hours you were really behind on posts cuz it was posting so much again. But now I come back a DAY later and some of the threads I replied to are still on the front page.. it amazes me.

I don't really know why all the people left, but this place was just meant for people to talk and have fun, I know the adds use to annoy people but in the long run they shouldn't have let it bother them.

I guess I really don't know what will fix the roo, I think it just needs more new members and ones that aren't just here for the archade. I dont' know how to do that though. I don't know what really has happend since I was here, and maybe it's better I don't find out lol. Sorry if this post of mine is completely pointless lol

not at all pointless, there was alot of drama here, things got real ugly for awhile, I'd even considered and threatened to leave myself, but I'm glad I stayed and I want this place to be better, for all of us

I agree, it was tough but I never said I'd leave forever.. I mean I mentioned it a few times and the thought was always there but I'm glad I came back and hopefully things can get back to how they were in the past, but it probably won't be with many of the same people... sadly..

I agree with Squirt. I would love to see a section just for writtings. I write myself sometimes and I would love to share with everyone but Dont know where to post it right @ the moment. Either A writting section for all types or split it for the more mature writting and then one for the less. If I have any more suggestions I shall be back. LOL:inlove: :tounge2:

he he ... ask and you shall receive ....

First, definitely open the vault for the adults-- free of charge ... they can do it with a password. I wish they would see that their counts for posting and who is online would rise big time if that were the case.

Next .. get rid of that re-direct page. That is the most cumbersome ... annoying ... carpal tunnel click of being here. Imagine, if you didn't have to click that for all the posts we have made here ....

Get more fun smiley's ... these are so outdated and boring .... :plain:

okay ... you know I will add more when I think of it ... :thumbs-up

Uh... Yeah... Smilies... I have never used them in post, (Commonly, I mean) I did it on occasion, usually with AoW, but, never just had a smily just sittin there, as just about everyone does in just about every post..

Anyway, A password? A password?? How would you make sure that "Mature" people had the "Password"?

Also, I was talking about the two sections of the writing corner... Because, if you had it just be a no password adult type section, people who wanna skip the lovey dovy, or the cutesy, or the melodrama... Could go to the adult section, and get the more down to earth, whatnot writing that follows with "Maturity" (Ugh...)

Anyway... I always thought that a place other that "Society" would be a great place (Like a writers Corner) to post my poetry.. But, alas, I posted in Society anyway.

it would require one of those "yes, I am at least 18 years of age" things, I believe, it's what other sites with similar content do to protect themselves, it should be good enough for the Roo, there should be a writer's forum, like society, with the break down of poetry, short stories, fiction, non-fiction and romance, the vault would be a place where adult content would go, and that would include erotic writings, it would be a catch all for that type of material

I knew I could count on you, dear friend! I'd forgotten all about mentioning the smilies, naughty had said something that made me look at them, there's no difference between some of the smileys, like bigsmile and colgate, butbut and nervous, tongue and tongue2, and it never has the one you need in the default ones, the most popular ones should be in the default setting, bigsmile, love, devil, lookaround, blush, sigh, the pink tongue, music, grin, eh ...

and yes, that redirect really needs to go lol
