Roughly 30 cm (12 inches) long,
what is the function of these wooden items?

I'd be impressed if someone could tell me what they are called.

Well again no idea ~ a foot long ~ with a flat base, and possible handle ~ one would have to say something along the lines of a 'scoop' for a pizza oven ~ well at least a clay oven many years ago ~ and if it nothing to do with food, I am not going to post any other comments [at present....:bye:]

OMGosh! My brother and I used these for night crawer hunting.
You would stick the flat part into the ground until only the handle would show. The night crawers would burrow into the holes and once they couldn't feel dirt anymore they would go to sleep. First thing in the morning gather up all the Night-Shovels. Only thing was you had to have a lot of them cause it would only trap three at a time.

I thought they were forms for elf shoes...but since Kipper's clue, folks are trying to sit on them so I guess I'm wrong.
